The North Carolina Writers' Network is happy to announce good news from our members. If you have had a piece published, won a prize in a competition, or received an award or honor for your writing, let us know and we'll post the news here. Hats Off! to Lucinda Trew whose poem "Carolina Clay" appears in the 2019 issue of Flying South.


Hats Off! to Jane Rockwell and Juma, the Grand Prize Winner and Grand Runner-Up, respectively, in the 2019-04 Nutshell Narratives contest. The writers responded to one of four prompts and wrote a short story in 350 words or less. Rockwell's story, "A Study in White with Dewdrops," can be read here. Juma (a pen name), wrote "A Tale of Two Gardens." Rockwell wins $50, and both writers receive free life-time subscriptions to and permanent publication on the site.


Hats Off! to Ashley Memory who won First Place in the DD's Starving Artist Writing Contest sponsored by the Franklin County Writers’ Guild for her short story "Golden Delicious." Ashley receives $500 and publication in County Lines: A Literary Journal. Also, her poem "The Gavin Girls" is forthcoming in Main Street Rag's Kakalak 2019.
