Hats Off! to Katie Winkler who has published her third edition of Teach. Write.: A Writing Teachers' Literary Journal. The Fall/Winter 2018 edition features the work of writers from North Carolina and Virginia to California and South Korea, with stories, essays and poetry about family, loss and love, the devastation of war, the healing power of writing down our stories, the joy of discovering new cultures, and more. The publication is available online at www.heymrswinkler.com.


Hats Off! to Alice Osborn who earned a $1,500 2019 Professional Development Grant for Artists from the United Arts of Raleigh and Wake County.to create a full-length CD of original songs. Alice is a trustee (and secretary) of the North Carolina Writers' Network, and the NCWN regional rep for Wake County.


Hats Off! to Bev Moss Haedrich who had two short stories place in the 2018 Literary Arts Competition in Wilmington. "Brother Times Two," about a financial facilitator, Hampton O'Quinn, that is assigned to audit a successful marketing firm in Chicago, took First Place. "Run over by a Reindeer," a light story about a daughter who accompanies her father to physical therapy after knee surgery, took Second Place.
