Hats Off! to Kathy Davis whose creative nonfiction piece "Open Carefully," which was a finalist for the Conger Beasley Jr. Award in Nonfiction, is in the spring issue of Solstice Literary Magazine. It's about the 1936 Tupelo tornado, which is still listed as one of the deadliest in the U.S.—a death toll that could have been prevented if the Federal government had acted on information rather than withholding it out of concern people would panic. Kathy's grandfather was among the dead.
