NC Literary Hall of Fame

Hats Off! to Sandra Headen who is now represented by Kate Foster of Storm Literary Agency. She is shopping her historical, middle grade novel, Warrior on the Mound, a Carolina-based story about an African-American boy whose team, the Pender County Rangers, is forced to play in the first interracial baseball game in New Hanover County. What happens before and after the game teaches Cato Jones some important lessons about racial violence and reconciliation in the Jim Crow South of the 1930s. In 2019, Sandra won the first-ever Jacobs/Jones African-American Literary Prize.
