"The gentle mockery in A Change in the Air is reminiscent of Stephen Leacock’s Sunshine Sketches of a Little Town, and yet the screams that echo down a nighttime street in one of the stories could have bubbled up from an Edvard Munch canvas. Ms. Roan has captured the sounds and sensibilities of a small town, the tightness and fearfulness with which the townspeople cling to each other as they resist newness and change."

Carol Roan fell in love with the sound of words as a child and began singing them professionally at eighteen. Thirty years later, she began to write her own words and was elected to Poets & Writers of New Jersey. Between those two phases of her life, she raised three children as a single mother by working as a corporate vice president and as a marketing consultant. She now teaches voice and stage presence in Winston-Salem, where she also edits, leads workshops, and is Past President of the Winston-Salem Writers.

She is the author of Clues to American Dance (Starrhill Press, 1993) and Speak Easy: A Guide to Successful Performances, Presentations, Speeches, and Lectures (Elliot and Clark, 1995), as well as the editor of When Last on the Mountain: The View from Writers over 50 (Holy Cow!
