"I loved these bite size pieces about strong women who persist in the face of adversity."
This third book in the Women and Adversity series commemorates the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment to the Constitution, ratified August 18, 1920, which gave women the right to vote. Among the women featured are modern suffragists, recognized names and others who are lesser-known suffragists.
The entries are brief sketches not biographies. They are meant to motivate readers to learn more about these women. Students get basic information about these suffragists, and teachers may prompt students to do more research for an essay or class project. Book lovers can be fascinated by the achievements of these women.
