Hats Off!

Good news from our members!

The North Carolina Writers' Network is happy to announce good news from our members. If you have had a piece published, won a prize in a competition, or received an award or honor for your writing, let us know and we'll post the news here. Hats Off! to Katie Winkler who has edited and published the first edition of Teach. Write.: A Writing Teachers' Literary Journal. The journal is dedicated to showcasing the creative writing of current and former composition teachers at all levels. Twelve talented writing teachers are featured in the first editio,n with memorial tributes to two great teacher-writers—Kathyrn Stripling Byer and Melody Lindsey. You can read the journal for free online or order a print copy. Katie is the NCWN co-regional rep for Henderson County. 

 

Hats Off! to Brenda Kay Ledford whose poem "Mountain Sisters" appears in the September/October/November 2017 issue of West End Poets Newsletter. This poem is in memory of poet and North Carolina Literary Hall of Fame inductee Katherine Stripling Byer (1944-2017).

 

Hats Off! to Cindy Brookshire whose short story “Inflatable, Untethered Holiday” is a finalist in Southern Writers Magazine's 2017 Short Story Contest. Her story is published in the magazine’s special short story issue. Cindy is a member of the Johnston County Writers group and lives in Pine Level.
